Engagement surveys are one of the most widely used tools in organizational listening. They are also frequently misread. A score tells you that a problem exists somewhere in the organization. It rarely tells you where the problem starts.

Most organizations measure how engaged their people are and how sound their strategy is. What they rarely measure is whether the organization can actually carry that strategy from intent to action. That gap has a name, and it is what most diagnostics were never built to find.
